Hugo Brehme was a German-born Mexican photographer who captured two important moments in the Mexican Revolution: La Decena Trágica in 1912 and the American occupation of Veracruz in 1914. However, he continued to take photographs in Mexico City and the surrounding towns after leaving Veracruz, and it is during this time period that he produced this specific photograph. The photo depicts five women atop horses on railroad tracks near a train. A child in the background faces the camera, and the remainder of an army appears to be setting up camp by the train further in the background. The women accompanied the Constitutionalist Army when it entered Mexico City.
